The New Megabass Destroyer JDM Rod Lineup is Coming to America (continued)

SUPER DESTROYER (F6-69X) The F6-69X SUPER DESTROYER is perhaps the epitome of the series, harnessing the successive technologies of each generation to challenge preconceptions of heavy-action angling. Built on a compact 6’9” frame, the 5-D GRAPHITE SYSTEM harnesses greater power per inch to deliver quick, destructive hooksets and submission-inducing lifting power.

The SUPER DESTROYER’s outstanding balance is geared towards a tip-up ready posture, the perfect battle stance for lure manipulation and lightning-fast hooksets. Not only does the shorter overall length contribute to faster hooksets, it also increases maneuverability, close-quarters control, and opens up new angling avenues to challenge traditional heavy-cover games.

TACHYON SHAFT (F6.1/2-67X) The F6.1/2-67X TACHYON SHAFT is a Yuki Ito Builders Spec model produced in limited quantities, for one purpose and one purpose only—to deliver the fastest, hardest-hitting hookset possible. Inspired by the original Destroyer® G-AX, first developed for legendary jig angler and JB World Champion, Ide, the TACHYON SHAFT is the realization of that historic project made possible with modern technology. Harnessing the 5-D GRAPHITE SYSTEM, the TACHYON SHAFT brings the reaction speed and power of world-class jig angling within reach. In recent years, an approach using bait finesse and lighter rigs in Japan has become common, but the reaction bite produced by heavy rubber jigs and Texas rigs will always have its place in angler hearts and trophy-class diets. Experience the TACHYON SHAFT, the realization of Ito and Ide’s long-held dream in jig fishing.

TEQUILA OF BACCARAC (F7-70X) The F7-70X TEQUILA OF BACCARAC is an extra-heavy powered regular taper rod ideally suited to the challenges of versatile monster hunting. With the 5-D GRAPHITE SYSTEM’s high-tension and high-torque power coursing through its veins, the F7-70X displays a tenacious ability to control swimbaits, big baits and larger frogs like the BIG GABOT in and around heavy cover. Impeccably balanced, resolutely powerful and surprisingly versatile, the TEQUILA OF BACCARAC is an unparalleled monster hunter.

ICBM (F7.1/2-90X) The bank-fishing special, F7.1/2-90X ICBM, is a super long-distance weapon developed for the trophy-hunting anglers lining the shores of Lake Biwa. The 9’ shaft harnesses the potential of 5-D GRAPHITE, displaying furious energy to unleash moon-shot casts and uncanny sensitivity to develop sonar-like maps with each bottom-contacting retrieve. The ICBM stands above other rods in its class, delivering an intuitive feel that belies its daunting length.

KIRISAME ULTIMATE (F0st-63XS) Born to meet the challenge of Japan’s toughest fields, the F0st-62XS KIRISAME ULTIMATE is the extreme expression of ultralight finesse, dialing sensitivity to the maximum setting with a solid carbon STINGER TIP and the extrasensory abilities of 5-D Graphite. The KIRISAME ULTIMATE enables ultralight presentations down to 2lb test, with the kind of silky-smooth responsiveness required to absorb sudden fights without straining line to the breaking point. The integrity of the new 5-D blank construction method further reduces unwanted blank twist and heavy reverberations, delivering focused, ultralight sensitivity and control.

KIRISAME (F1st-66XS) The F1st-66XS KIRISAME is the new standard KIRISAME of the 5-D Graphite era. With a STINGER TIP and upgraded blank, KIRISAME is a master of light finesse rigs, scoring highly across all finesse benchmarks throughout its development. The extra fast tip displays excellent “give,” absorbing light bites and imparting tantalizing action alike. Improved cut-patterning and layering process of the 5-D GRAPHITE SYSTEM ensures an impossibly smooth taper transition into the mid-section, where the blank’s tenacious torque enables long casts, strong lifting power, and decisive sweeping hooksets. The KIRISAME is the new global standard of finesse utility.

BABY PLUGGING (F1.1/2-72XS) The F1.1/2-72XS BABY PLUGGING is tuned for finesse hardbaits, leveraging 5-D Graphite to decrease unwanted blank twist and reverberation, and increase power and controllability. Ideally suited to small minnow plugs and crankbaits, the F1.1/2-72XS exhibits exquisite retrieve tension and feel, allowing for thrilling light-bite plugging games.

WHIPPET (F2-66XS) When developing the F2-66XS WHIPPET, the Megabass design team set out to explore the concept behind the F2-64XS, a spinning rod beloved for the better part of 25 years. The resulting 5-D Graphite prototypes came in nearly 35% lighter and with significantly more torque, leading to the addition of 2” to the blank’s length and minor adjustments to more fully realize the F2-64XS’ original potential. The WHIPPET is a multi-purpose, “whip-like” performer, boasting agile blank recovery, lightness and powerful torque to enable multi-purpose finesse applications.

LANDSAT (F3-611XS) Drawing its inspiration from the F3-610XS, one of the most successful spinning models in Megabass’ storied history, the F3-611XS LANDSAT applies the advances of 5-D Graphite to the finesse tool of choice for serious anglers the world over. Developed for applications like drop-shotting and neko rigging, the LANDSAT’s sensitivity and control provides a birds-eye view of the battle unfolding in the depths, delivering insight that can separate one bite from the next. The 5-D GRAPHITE SYSTEM’s refined patterning and layering process results in a lighter and more powerful rod that bends with unimaginable smoothness, encouraging intuitive control. The LANDSAT is a dexterous finesse companion true to its roots, sure to delight diehard Megabass connoisseurs and first-time converts alike.

WIND BUSTER (F3.1/2-72XS) The F3.1/2-72XS WIND BUSTER is the “go-to” choice to confront a vast and varied field, offering an ideal balance of length and power to handle finesse softbaits and smaller hardbaits alike—especially when tough headwinds make lures difficult to cast with baitcasting setups. Powered by the 5-D GRAPHITE SYSTEM, the WIND BUSTER displays crisp blank recovery performance and unexpected torque, enlivening presentations from shaky heads to jerkbaits. Medium-fast taper uncoils with silky-smoothness, transitioning load to where it is borne best, allowing for both delicate rod work and domineering performance as the situation dictates.

KIRISAME KAMEYAMA SPECIAL (F5st-65XS) The F5st-65XS KIRISAME KAMEYAMA SPECIAL is the ultimate spinning tool for finesse cover situations and deep, open water nose-hooking. The medium-fast taper is finished with a solid carbon STINGER TIP for unimaginable sensitivity in a F5-power rod. This unique marriage of opposites allows for the presentation of lighter rigs that would only be possible with rods underpowered for the task at hand. The KAMEYAMA SPECIAL is built to target deep rockpiles, gnarly submerged timber, brush, and structure infested with treacherously sharp quagga mussels. With this “heavyweight finesse” spinning setup, delicate rigs can be cast into heavy cover with confidence. The STINGER TIP allows for subtle lure manipulation and crisp sensitivity, while the F5-powered blank has the backbone to decisively haul hard-won catches from cover.

The combination of the MBCS reel seat and the Zaldain 3D Performance grip really give some of the new JDM rods a super exotic style, one that is worthy of the "Destroyer" series. With this introduction there are two completely separate Destroyer lines to draw from

So the big question will these JDM Destroyers come to the Americas? The answer is YES! These are JDM rods but Megabass America will be bringing the rods to the US, but they will NOT replace the U.S. Destroyers that were designed and developed specifically for domestic anglers, and American applications. The bottom line is there are two kings here, and Megabass Japan and Megabass of America have independent designs and the two lines, while both Destroyers, are going in different directions, and are not dictated by one another.

These JDM Destroyers will be officially released in the end of May-early June timeframe with MSRPs from $449 to $525 dollars. As if there wasn't enough to want from the Destroyer lineup! Megabass enthusiasts can truly feed their appetite for madness as they soon will be able to select rods from either lineup.

While the upcoming P5 Megabass JDM Destroyer rods are not here yet you can find the Megabass America Destroyers at
