Introduction:
Simms is no newcomer to producing clothing for fishermen.  From hats, to waders, to jackets and beyond, they have been a big name in the fly fishing world for quite some time now.  Recently, they have jumped into the Bass market with fresh designs aimed at this whole new crowd of conventional anglers.  It is not uncommon now to see touring pros on television sporting Simms hats, bibs, and jackets while fishing major tournaments.  At ICAST 2012, we checked out a few of their many new items set for release in the near future.

Going Bonefishing anytime soon?  These are ideal for flats wading.

OceanTek Saltwater Wading Boot:  The stylish Simms OceanTek saltwater wading boot should prove to be a key piece of gear for the flats angler.  These boots are designed to be not only used for wading, but on the deck of a boat as well.  Using a waterproof synthetic leather upper, they also sport non marking soles and the perimeter features a rubber rand for added durability.

If desired, cleats and studs can be added to the treads for additional traction.

All hardware on the boots is non-corrosive, and nylon laces are used.  The boots also make use of a neoprene lining with closed-cell foam, and feature a full coverage rubber toe cap for added protection and comfort.  Available stock sizes range from sizes 8-14, with a price of $199.95.  Expect to see these become available this fall.

The Hyalite rain shell is available in 3 different colors.

Hyalite Rain Shell:  The Hyalite Rain Shell is constructed of waterproof and breathable nylon ripstop.  This garment should not only keep you dry from the rain, but will help you avoid that wet, clammy feeling common with some rain coats.  The coat features Velcro cuffs, zippered pockets, and a 3 point adjustable hood.  The main zipper features water resistant construction with a minimal threat of corrosion.  This was a very attractive jacket that looked stylish and wasn't bulky or baggy.  Sizes range from Small to XXL, with 3 colors available:  Agave, Ocean Blue, and Dark Gunmetal.  These should be out in January with a price of $149.95.

The Contender Jacket and Bib are guaranteed to keep you dry.

Contender Gore Tex Jacket:   This jacket provides complete water and wind protection and is guaranteed by Simms to keep you dry.  Utilizing a 3 layer Gore Tex shell and a 100% Polyester face, it will withstand the elements.  Cuffs are watertight and adjustable, and the large hood has a 3 point cinch that can fit over a mask or helmet securely.  The jacket also features 2 zippered chest and hand pockets, and a full length water resistant zipper.    Sleeves are designed to provide totally unhindered casting.  Sizes range from Small to XXL with 3 colors available:  Catch Camo/Dark Gunmetal, Catch Camo/Orange, and Dark Gunmetal.  Look for these to cost $349.95.

Contender Gore Tex Bib:  The Contender bib carries the same basic construction and dryness guarantee.  It contains 2 microfleece lined hand warming pockets, zippered chest pockets, thigh cargo pocket, and a full length water resistant zipper with flap.  There are also knee length zips, elastic suspenders, and adjustable Velcro ankles.  Sizes range from Small to XXL with the only color available being Dark Gunmetal.  Bib pricing will be $299.95.

These waders are not cheap, but will deliver extreme quality.

G4 Pro Stockingfoot Waders:  These new waders from Simms are not only very attractive but are loaded with features, too.   They utilize exclusive 5 layer Gore Tex pro shell technology in the lower section, with similar 3 layer technology up top.   Chest pockets are massive to hold lots of gear, and the special suspenders are said to deliver extreme comfort.  Other features include built in retractor, fly drying patch, built in gravel guards, belt loops with included wading belt, and hand warming pockets.  Many sizes are available, with stock sizes ranging from Small to XXL.  Custom sizes ranging all the way to 4XL are available as well.  The only available color is Greystone.  Look for these to retail for $699.95.

Matt Crawford shows off the Hyalite rain shell with a plethora of cool Simms products in the background.

Simms never disappoints when it comes to stylish, ultra high quality gear for anglers.  With a range of new products coming to market, this is just a small sample of what to expect in the near future.  Now that Simms has quickly built a reputation in the Bass fishing scene, it's obvious they are serious about making some serious garments for all types of anglers.
