HUK Attack's the Footwear Market and Wins

Date: 7/29/17
Location: Orlando, FL
Admission: Buyers & Press Only
Manufacturer: HUK
Reviewer: Zander

Introduction: HUK makes some of the coolest looking fishing garments on the market and while there are now more companies leveraging Kryptek patterns it was HUK that first put it on the map for anglers. This ICAST HUK entered the fishing shoe market, and did so with a very successful "Attack" strategy.

HUK entered the footwear market this year

On the Attack: HUK's first shoe offering is called the Attack, and is a purpose built water shoe designed from the ground up. Like other HUK offerings the first thing you notice about this shoe is that it leverages Krypek patterns, giving the shoe an athletic yet tactical look.

Their first offering? The appropriately named "Attack" water shoes

Turn the shoe over and you can see a very unique outsole called GripX which is a unique traction pattern. Most traction patterns are designed to go forward or side to side while this one goes in any direction, helping provide a very solid foundation. GripX also features micro channels so that it sheds water very quickly and the shoe will remain grippy even on very wet surfaces.

The bottom of the shoe features a very unique GripX bottom

The Attack has a dual density midsole which consists of softer EVA, providing a more comfortable transitional feel and still remains very durable. Moving upwards the mesh in the shoe looks so unique because every single thread is polymer coated, and when the shoe is built every thread is fused together forming a one piece upper, giving the Attack enhanced durability.

The upper mesh features threads that are polymer coated and fused together

The material is called "Fusetech" and unlike other competing shoes that have stitched on or welded on uppers that will shred or peel over time the Attack is a single piece that will remain intact even under extreme abuse.

The HUK Attack dominated the competition and won Best of Show in the footwear category

The HUK Attack will be available in sizes from 7-13 and will retail for $89.99 when it becomes available later this season. So what did the buyers and press think about HUK's first entry into the footwear market? After the votes were tallied the Attack walked away with an ICAST "Best of Show" in the footwear category. In addition to the Attack HUK also introduced sandals and flip flops that also make use of the grip patterns. For the first time ever anglers can turn to HUK for their technical fishing apparel needs from hood to toe.
