Spro's New Spittin' Shad

Another booth that's normally hopping with new product introductions is Spro. This year the company extended their topwater offerings with a new, spitting frog and new colors for an established frog bait. They then simply extended the utility of a couple of bait lineups with new colors. Let's take a look.

The new Spitting Shad is a new interpretation of the popular Bronzeye Shad topwater bait.

The modification of course, is to the bait's mouth.

Bronzeye Spit Shad: The new Spit Shad builds on the success of Spro's Bronzeye Shad bait - a floating topwater bait that's exceedingly easy to walk and glide. The Spit Shad takes this same great feature but adds a little more splash and noise to the festivities. It's a size 60 bait weighing one half ounce and with a 4/0 Gamakatsu Superline EWG Double worm hook.

It's scooped in allowing the bait to spit and throw water as you walk it.

Notice the old school cut out at the bottom of the mouth to make the bait more of a spitter than popper.

New Colors: The huge, King Daddy frog with a Gamakatsu 6/0 hook has two new colors for 2017 while the McStick receives four (4) new colors and the RockCrawler three (3).

Conclusion: A very quiet year for Spro to say the least but a lot of new colors for which to be excited and certainly the new Bronzeye Spitting Shad should not be overlooked. There are a lot of walking and popping frogs on the market, but this is the first one I can remember seeing that's designed to spit instead of pop.
