Introduction: Part of what makes bass fishing so much fun is that they can be caught in so many different environments using a boggling array of techniques. From spooning offshore in 40-feet of water to throwing poppers up against the bank, the constantly changing behavior of bass keeps us coming back for more.

Mojo Bass fly rods have full wells grips and fighting butts on all models.

With all of the different conventional methods at our disposal, many anglers overlook the challenge and thrill of chasing bass with a fly rod. This year, St. Croix brings us bass anglers an attractive, affordable line of new fly rods geared towards hooking more anglers on the fun of bass fishing on the fly!

These shortened rods should be capable of delivering bulky flies accurately.

Mojo Bass Fly Rods: The slick new Mojo Bass fly rods from St. Croix are a relatively small series of specialized rods consisting of 7,8, and 9-weight models. Featuring tournament-friendly lengths of 7-feet 11-inches, these shorter-than-average fly rods should be great for casting bulky flies with pinpoint accuracy—often crucial in bass fishing.

The labeling on the reel seats is a nice detail.

Stripping guides are by Kigan.

Each of these new sticks will tout medium-fast action 2-piece SCII graphite blanks with a black-cherry metallic finish. Other notable attributes include premium cork grips, machined-aluminum reel seats, Kigan Master Hand 3D stripper guides with aluminum oxide inserts, and hard-chrome snakes and tip tops. All rods include a 5-year warranty and soft-cloth rod sock at a price of just $150.00.

Dan Johnston of St. Croix poses with the award-winning rod series!

Conclusion: Everyone knows that we here at TackleTour love to chase bass, and these short rods look like a real blast to fish. While they are geared for the bass angler, don't make the mistake of thinking that's all they are good for. We can see these being big in many other situations too, like tossing bulky flies to pike or slipping short casts under mangrove canopies to laid-up snook. Look for these rods to be available September 1st.
