Introduction:
This year's IFTD show was a big one for the Sage brand. They introduced not just three new rod families, but also added additional models to the hot ONE series and redesigned the classy Click reels. We loved what we saw at their booth, and here's a rundown of all the drool-worthy products they had to share with us at TackleTour.

MOD rods resemble the TCX rods of the past but exhibit far different actions.

MOD: Sage rod designer Jerry Siem designed the MOD series for delicate and accurate presentations. Each blank uses Konnetic technology along with a “modern interpretation” of a moderate action to produce these precise tools. Finished in a jade-green color scheme, MOD rods come with Fuji ceramic stripping guides and hard-chrome snake guides and tip tops. Single-handed rods also feature Super Plus snub-nose half-wells cork grips, and black anodized-aluminum reel seats with zebrawood inserts.

Reel seats are beautifully finished and look right at home on this premium series.

Spey models have a full anodized-aluminum down-locking reel seat along with Super Plus main and rear grips. The regular 9-foot single-handed models will arrive in 2,3,4,5, and 6-weight sizes at a price of $850. The 6 and 7-weight spey rods span 13-feet in length and will set you back $1,050. Prices include a black aluminum rod tube and bag.

BOLT rods are made to grab your attention with their bold blanks.

BOLT: Like a lightning bolt, this new Sage series is said to excel at reaching long distances quickly. These salmonfly-colored blanks sport Generation 5 technology coupled with ultra-fast actions to help anglers reach distant lies.

These rods are in fact great for reaching out to long distances.

BOLT rods are adorned with Fuji ceramic stripping guides, hard-chrome snake guides and tip-tops, half-wells cork grips, as well as matte-black anodized aluminum reel seats (rosewood inserts on lighter models). Anglers will have their choice of 9-foot 4,5,6,7 or 8-weight models at a price of $650 which includes a rod tube and sock.

PULSE rods look clean and deliver Sage performance at a lower price point.

PULSE: Using Graphite IIIe technology, the fast-action PULSE series is a broad range of rods for everything from creeks to saltwater. Rods in this family display lichen-colored blanks, Fuji ceramic stripping guides, hard-chrome snake guides and tip-tops, black anodized-aluminum reel seats (rosewood inserts on lighter models), and half-wells cork handles.

Checking out the grip styles of the PULSE series.....

Standard rods range from 3–8 weight in lengths of 7-feet 6-inches to 10-feet. Both switch and spey rods are available in 7 and 8-weight sizes, with lengths spanning from 11-feet 4-inches to 13-feet 6-inches. Expect a price of $450 for single-handed rods, $550 for switch models, and $650 for spey sticks. Prices include rod tubes.

New ONE Models: The LITTLE ONE series rods feature scaled-down components designed to increase the ultra-light experience with smaller quarry. All models feature four-piece construction and are 8-feet 2-inches with 0,1,2,3, and 4-weight sizes available. MSRP will be $850.

ONE Trout Spey rods will thrill those who love fishing with lightweight two-handed sticks.

ONE Trout Spey rods are lightweight four-piece spey rods featuring appropriately-sized smaller grips. There's a 10-foot 9-inch 2-weight and an 11-foot 3-weight. MSRP is $1,050.

These newly redesigned reels will be perfect on the LITTLE ONE or other light fly rods.

CLICK Reel Redesign: The traditional CLICK reels from Sage are fully machined and hard-anodized for ruggedness and protection. This group of reels gets a refresh this year with a 40-percent increase in arbor diameter for quicker line retrieval and increased palming-rim surface. Choose from models including a 0/1/2 ($259), 3/4/5 ($279), and 4/5/6 ($299) in lime, stealth, and bronze color schemes.

Thanks to
Kara Armano for giving us a very informative tour of the entire new Sage lineup!

Conclusion: Sage wasn't messin' around this year and brought out an impressive bunch of new gear for us to drool over. They offer such an immense lineup of both traditional and specialty rods that no fly-fishing niche will go unfilled. We are told to expect all of these new items to be available beginning in August.
