ICAST 2015 Coverage

River2Sea Keeps It Simple This Year

Date: 8/3/15
Location: Orlando, FL
Admission: Buyers & Press Only
Manufacturer: River2Sea
Reviewer: Cal

Introduction:
Normally, each year, River2Sea has a host of new introductions to show us at ICAST. This year, the company scaled back a little bit instead, concentrating on bringing to market, product that had been previously promised and also filling out existing lines with new colors. We stopped by to take a look at what they had display.

Mr. Whiggley is ready for distribution!

Mr Whiggley: Larry Dahlberg introduced us to one of his famous garage baits back in 2013. We were all anxious to see what Mr Whiggley, a ten and a half inch (10.5"), three and a quarter ounce (3 1/4oz) bait could do in the water, and now it's finally ready. The baits come in packages of two and include a wiring harness.

These baits look like big fish candy.

Got jigs?

Jigs: Both the new Tommy Biffle Junkyard Flipping jig and John Murray's PapaMur jig were on display at the River2Sea booth and both garnering a lot of attention. The Junkyard Flipping Jig features a short shank but wide gap hook for secure hookups. It's designed to always land on its head and features extra-loud, tungsten rattles. The PapaMur jig has a special, reverse-gap, round-bend hook designed to keep bass pinned from hookset to landing.

SWaver 200: Lastly, the SWaver 200 receives two new colors, Powder and Warden that look a lot like a pearl white and a sort of dirty sexy shad respectively. The SWaver 200 is a fantastic choice if you're looking for a larger glide bait to tempt finicky fish. At $45.99 is a bit pricey, but still a bargain when compared to the exotics in this category.

John doesn't look like he's ready to let go of that bait anytime soon!

Conclusion: New product or not, it's always good to catch up with our friends over at River2Sea. We're sure they'll make up for what turned out to be a quiet time this year with one packed full of new introductions next year. In the meantime, we're putting our order in for some of those Mr. Whiggley baits!
