Introduction: Rapala is the overarching brand for Normark Corporation consisting not only of the Rapala brand, but eleven other name brands as well including VMC, Sufix, Storm, Luhr Jensen, Terminator, Trigger, Blue Fox and more. As you can imagine, with so many brands under one umbrella, there are a ton of new introductions to wade through. We zero in on a couple of key ones we found interesting.

Sufix's new Nanobraid is designed with finesse fishing in mind.

Sufix Nanobraid: With their new Nanobraid, Sufix was able to increase the pitch count as the line is wound creating an overall smoother, more tightly wound line than before. Benefits are supposed to include better resistance to abrasion, a smoother surface, and better performance all around from handling to knot and shock strength and sensitivity. It is a finesse line available in 2 - 10 lb test only.

Arashi goes deep with their new 18 ...

... and 25 deep running cranks.

Storm Arashi Deep: Expanding on their wildly successful Arashi introduction, Storm introduces the deep diving versions of their crankbait, the Arashi Deep 18 and 25. These two baits are rated for 18 and 25 foot running depths respectively and more important, have that same, self-tuning bill design. Like the Deep 10, the 18 and 25 feature a single ball moving back and forth inside the bait as you retrieve enhancing its side to side wobble and also creating a low frequency thumping sound.

The bills on both the 25 and 18 are super wide ...

... and super long!

VMC's new, Gliding Jig is a very intriguing bit of terminal tackle.

They look to be a great option both swimming back to the boat, or sitting on the bottom like a shakey head rig.

VMC Gliding Jig: An intriguing, new product from VMC is their new gliding jig heads. Available in both willow leaf and Oklahoma blade styles, VMC has attached these blades to the bottom of a jighead, provided a hook keeper and voila, you have a gliding, vibrating jighead with which to swim or fish shakey style, your favorite soft plastic. They will be available in 1/8 and 3/16 ounce sizes, all with 1/0 hooks and sold in packs of 2.

It will be available in both willow (left) and Oklahoma (right) blades.

Terminator brings out their interpretation of the frog bait.

Terminator Walk the Frog: Terminator has a new take on the floating, hollow bodied frog bait. With a weight set further back in the body of the frog and extended behind the hook, now there is nothing getting in the way of the frog's body when collapsed during a bite and hook set. The back weighted design also makes it easier to walk the frog. Each new frog bait comes with a heavy duty welded line tie and a premium VMC double frog hook. This bait measures 3" in length and weighs approximately 11/16oz.

With the weight set way off to the back, there's less to interfere with hookups.

The trapezoid at the bottom rear of the bait is where the weight resides.

And of course, from the top, it looks like a very tempting bait!

Rapala also showed off some of their new, natural finishes.

The bluegill pattern was particularly intricate.

Thanks Zack Swanson for showing us what's new with the Rapala brands!

Conclusion: The brands under the Rapala umbrella are quite formidable all with their signature product that most anglers have either tried, have on their list to try, or are continuing to rely upon. After visiting with Zack Swanson, VP of Sales at Rapala, we just added several items to our list to try out and test.
