Introduction:
Galvan Fly Reels makes all reels in-house at their Sonora, CA headquarters. Comprised of the Torque, Torque Tournament, Rush Light, and Brookie reel families, this year Galvan brought out a new addition to their lineup. These beautiful new reels include an impressive look and an equally impressive list of features!

Grip reels from Galvan sport very clean and up-to-date looks.

The hub is fully sealed to keep out grit and water.

Grip Reels: The new Grip series is extremely attractive and sports a clear (silver) color scheme with bright blue accents. Fully machined from 6061 T6 aluminum, these large-arbor reels utilize a fully-sealed MicroTune carbon fiber drag system for total protection from the elements. The Type II anodized saltwater-safe frame and spool also feature easy switching to right or left retrieve, XL handle, easy spool release, and light weight thanks to the generously-ported design.

The minimalist frame and spool are very light in hand.

The drag knob is large for easy adjustments.

Lookin' good from all angles....

Grip reels come in three sizes: G-8 for 8-weight lines ($525); G-10 for 10-weight lines ($575); and G-12 for 12-weight lines ($625). These reels will be released October 1st and carry an original owner lifetime warranty.

The handle is a great design with nice texture and taper.

This is a very promising new reel from the Galvan family!

Conclusion: Just like all Galvan reels, the new Grip series looks great and we can't wait to try them out.  The light weight of this series makes them a solid choice for high-end modern graphite rods. The G-8 model comes in at just 7.8 ounces, the G-10 weighs 8.7 ounces, and the G-12 tips the scales at just 9.5 ounces. These make a great addition to the Galvan lineup and should make a great addition to your personal one, too!
