Introduction:
Clutch is a relative newcomer to the world of fly rods, but that hasn't stopped them from putting together some solid rods and a solid pro-staff. With roots in Ohio, Clutch offers fly anglers premium rods for a variety of fishing from mountain streams to the tarpon flats. This year, Clutch continues their forward momentum with even more rods to add to their lineup!

React rods feature a sweet logo design.

React: The new React series of rods are short rods that should be great for powerful casts and pinpoint accuracy. Rather than a traditional line-weight rating, Clutch has designed these rods to be grain weighted. Both a 250 and 350-grain size are offered, each measuring 8-feet-1-inch with a one-piece blank. Expect a price of $750 with availability right now.

The React rod on display at the show had an acrylic white reel seat, but production models will feature a logo-matching green shade.

Tannik musky rods sport eye-catching orange accents.

Tannik: Fly fishing for musky seems to be rapidly gaining popularity, and Clutch answers the growing demand with the new Tannik lineup. Like the React rods, these are both one-piece blanks that carry a grain weighting instead of a usual line rating. Measuring 8-feet-10-inches each, there is both a 350 and 450-grain model. MSRP is $775 each and they are available now.

Tannik rods are also designed with an extended rear grip.

Fluent rods are built with acrylic white reel seats.

Fluent: Trout anglers; Clutch hasn't forgotten about you. Fluent rods are all four-piece with a more “standard” length of 9-feet. Three models are offered which includes a 4, 5, and 6-weight size. Fluent rods can be had for $795 and you can purchase one right now.

Owner Lee Janik (right) poses with just a portion of his many pro staffers on hand!

Conclusion: We have to say that Clutch has some of the coolest-looking rods around. We really dig the graphics and composition of these rods, and hope to get more actual casting experience with them in the future. Next year we'll be sure to see what the Clutch crew has in store—we are sure it'll be good!
