Introduction:
With their recent signing of Mike McClelland, you knew Big Bite Baits had to have something new in the works for 2016, and that they do. We caught up with Mike in the Big Bite Baits booth at ICAST to see what this new bait is all about.

Introducing the Battle Bug by Big Bite Baits

Battle Bug: The Battle Bug is a hybrid lizard, craw, creature bait with six appendages. From one end, it looks like a craw/trailer bait, but from the other it looks like a lizard with frog legs and a split tail, and that's exactly what McClelland wanted. It's designed to come to life on its own catching subtle currents and water movement as it sits on the bottom attached to your jig.

Designed mostly as a trailer, the back end of the bait has the profile of a creature head

The underside features ribs similar to a beaver bait, and a slot to help with rigging.

The Battle Bug will be available in 10 colors including Green Pumpkin, Ozark Craw, Tilapia, Black with blue flake, Black/Blue Sapphire laminate, Watermelon, and so on. Each pack of 7 will sell for $3.99.

This end is all about that craw.

The Battle Bug is available in 10 colors.

McClelland worked hard to get this bait right and in the end, he's very happy with the result!

Conclusion: When McClelland came on board with Big Bite Baits, what he needed the most was a bait he can attach to his football head or swimming jig and that's exactly what the Battle Bug was designed to be - a great trailer. But as with all good products, when designed for one purpose, often times, other applications come to mind. the Battle Bug looks to be a good general purpose plastic bait as well. We look forward to checking it out in 2016.
