Introduction:
In the world of fly reels, no other manufacturer has as many customization options as Abel Reels. Sure, other companies offer some jazzy color schemes and tidbits, but Abel takes it to a whole other level. Not only do they offer a huge variety of choices to the consumer, but they are constantly refreshing and updating colors and designs every year. As major tackle junkies here at TackleTour, it's only natural that we are big fans of the Abel brand and love using their products. Let's check out what they had on tap for us at the 2015 IFTD show!

The Sealed Drag 5/6 model looks to be another bad-to-the-bone reel!

5/6 Sealed Drag Reel: Although we previewed them at last year's IFTD show, these reels started shipping late last year and are now widely available including the popular 5/6 size. A quick recap of the key features includes fully-machined construction, heavily-ported frame and spool, quick-change spool system, and a fully-sealed Rulon and aluminum drag system. Expect a price of $625 for the 5/6 reel.

All Sealed Drag models are generously ported.

New Zinger Colors: The Abel Zinger is now being offering in six additional new color options: blue, red, satin olive, as well as brook, rainbow, and brown trout colors. Each Zinger is fully-machined and has the ability to be attached to a vest via a screw mechanism or simply clipped on with the included “S” carabineer. There's also a 36-inch retractable spectra-nylon cord that boasts a 40-pound breaking strength. Zinger prices start at $50.

The Able Women reel celebrates female anglers.

New Reel Finishes: The artwork that Abel puts on their products is simply stunning, and this year they bring us new designs for their reels:

Derek DeYoung: New cutthroat and carp flank fish graphics

We could stare at these DeYoung reels all day long!

Andrea Larko reels come in either a painted......

Andrea Larko: Bonefish and trout designs either painted or as a silhouette style

….or silhouette style.

Agro Brown: Designed by Abel Art Contest winner Eric Hornung

The Agro Brown design looks quite edgy!

Jurassic Tail: Inspired by the massive trout living in Argentina's Jurassic Lake

Jurassic Tail reels sport the portly tail of a whopper 'bow.

The custom art just keeps coming.......

….and coming!

It's always great visiting Jeff at the IFTD show....thanks for the tour!

Conclusion: In addition to the above new releases, there's some other additions and refinements to the custom-finish lineup that Abel offers. Also of note, new larger Sealed Drag reels will begin showing up in the very near future. Visiting the Abel booth is always a treat, and this year was no different. We love seeing what they have in store at each IFTD show, and we can't wait to see what's next. In the meantime, we've got some shopping to do!
