Introduction:
Wiley X has continued to gain popularity among anglers and is known for not only their aggressive yet functional styling, but also their lens durability. At the show Pro Angler Edwin Evers showed us the latest that Wiley X had to offer anglers seeking both style and safety in their optics.

Wiley X: The company is family and U.S. veteran founded and has been in business for over two decades. Wiley X caters to outdoor enthusiasts including professional drivers, marksmen and anglers, all of which place different demands on their eyewear.

There are plenty of Wiley X styles to choose from

This is why Wiley X products are put through rigorous testing to be ANSI Z87.1 rated, EN.166 rated and in the case of some styles, the military's stringent Ballistic V0 impact certification.

Pro Angler Edwin Evers shows us the high mass impact test equipment

All Wiley X styles are ANSI rated, not just certain styles. This commitment to protection helps set Wiley X apart and at the booth Edwin showed us the tools for certification of ANSI's high mass impact test. Under this test Wiley X frames and lenses must be able to withstand the weight of a 1.1lb. pointed projectile dropped from a height of 50". This impact test pretty much ensures that these optics will stand up to just about anything bass anglers will encounter when fishing or running across a lake at high speed.

New for the show are pale yellow lenses

Another thing that Edwin highlighted was the company's patented facial cavity seals which are put on the inside the glasses to block out even the finest irritants and peripheral light which helps protect angler's eyes and allowing the polarized lenses to perform at their intended peak levels.

Facial cavity seals help protect anglers even further and lock out light allowing lenses to perform at their peak

At the show Wiley X also introduced two new lenses, a Pale Yellow lens which is designed to be a light enhancing lens tint. This lens will enhance contrast in low to extremely low light conditions. It offers a light transmission of 86%.

Even the frames need to pass durability certifications

Also new at the show was the Emerald Mirror Amber lenses which is basically a amber tinted lens under an emerald green multi-coat mirror surface that is specifically designed to amplify color contrast and deliver higher visual definition. This lens is designed to offer crisp acuity in all light conditions for superior vision performance. Unlike the pale yellow lenses the Emerald Mirror is polarized and offers a light transmission of only 12%.

Edwin shows us his favorite pair of optics

Wiley X continues to update and expand their line of optics and it is clear that the amount of testing and certification that goes into each and every pair of optics translates into performance for outdoor enthusiasts. While these optics are designed for durability they also must pass ANSI optical clarity standards and while ordinary lenses can distort objects viewed from a distance all Wiley X lenses are measured in tests utilizing the NBS Pattern 20 to ensure they provide a clear view. All Wiley X lenses also block 100% of the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays, so you know your not just rocking stylish lenses, but your also protected.
