Introduction: Not your traditional "tackle" but just as cool. This ICAST a number of companies introduced new cameras designed to help document your fishing adventures but none was more innovative than the Savage Gear Water Wolf, a waterproof and shockproof camera designed to film everything from cast to catch!

Mads at Savage Gear shows us the innovative new Water Wolf underwater camera

While there are a number of cameras that are designed to film you fishing how many cameras do you know of that are designed to film what you are fishing? The Water Wolf is designed to be tied onto your line ahead of whatever bait you are trolling, retrieving or jigging and films everything from your initial catch to the rarely seen follow and strike on your lure.

The Water Wolf is a slender torpedo shape because it is designed to be rigged directly in front of your lure/bait

The camera comes with different weights so it can film everything from a topwater strike to a deep water troll. These weights also can be adjusted to change the filming angles. This camera is designed to record in HD in even low light and cloudy water conditions and saves everything on a micro SD card in 720p wide screen format with 30 frames per second.

Here the Water Wolf films a swimbait

A integrated balancing and keep system maintains the camera allowing it to track in front of your bait and not interfere with the lure's intended action.

A view from the Water Wolf

At the booth Brandon Cotton, Marketing Manager at Okuma, showed us recent footage he had taken while saltwater fishing. We could see many fish come up and chase the swimbait, in most cases anglers would never even know how much attention the lures are getting. Watching strikes is heart pounding and with the Water Wolf you finally have the capability to see what really happened on the end of your line.

A special lens and hardware is designed to capture HD video in low light

The Water Wolf can take plenty of abuse and is shockproof and able to dive down to dive down to 100 meters in depth. When not underwater the camera can also get shots with an upcoming accessory pack that will include a number of different mounts that will make it possible to place the camera on your boat or truck for a wider range of shots.

Soon extra mounts will also be available to extend the use of this camera

For the first time film everything from cast to catch!

The Water Wolf will retail for $199.99 and is due for release in just a few weeks. Just imagining what we will be able to witness underwater at the end of our line is motivation enough to go fishing, and this is one product that we cannot wait to "see" in action.
