Introduction:
While running the floor of ICAST, we heard rumor of some exciting new terminal tackle products from Owner America Corp, so we found our way over to their booth to check out what they have in store for the coming year.

Jungle Flipping Hook: Designed to withstand heavy braided line and the toughest of conditions, the new Jungle Flipping Hook from Owner is made with their trademarked, Zo-Wire. This is a super strong high carbon steel wire that allows the manufacturer to use thinner diameters for better hook penetration.

Each new Jungle Flipping Hook will feature a bait keeper that's tied on...

... and a Super Needle Point tip

The Jungle Flipping Hook is equipped with a durable Super Needle Point that the company claims will not roll over or dull. The hook's eye is 100% closed to prevent your line from slipping out and the bait keeper is wrapped tight to the shank to prevent sliding or slipping. The Jungle Flipping Hook will be available in 3/0, 4/0, and 5/0 sizes and sell for an MSRP of $8.00 per 4 pack (3/0 comes in packs of 5).

Pivot Head: Designed for use with swimbaits, the Pivot Head features a free swinging hook on what the company describes as a bean shaped head. The Pivot Head is offered in both a straight shank and offset hook configuration for either exposed hook or weedless Texas rigging. Both versions will be available in 1/8, 1/4, and 3/8 oz sizes with 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0 hooks respectively. They will sell in packs of two for an MSRP of $7.00.

Short Shank ST-36 Treble: Owner joins the compact treble hook trend with their new Short Shank ST-36 Treble. Short shank trebles are gaining popularity because manufacturers are able to use wider gaps without fear of tangling on multi-hooked baits. Short shank hooks also flex less because there's less leverage. The Short Shank ST-36 features an large 150d angle between two of the hook points (normally 120d between all three) allowing the hook points to sit further away from the body of your baits encouraging better hookup ratios. These hooks come equipped with Super Needle Points and will be available in sizes from 6 through 1. Quantities per package vary depending on size (from 8 - 5), but they will retail for an MSRP of $9.00.

Single Hook Replacements: Practitioners of Catch and Release have a new option at their disposal to aid in the goal of preserving their fisheries. Re-rig all your treble hooked baits with single hook replacements. Hook up ratios with single hooks will likely be less, but baits outfitted with this option will cause far less damage to your catch - a factor that's important in the practice of catch and release. An added benefit is your hard baits will be more fishable in weedy conditions because there are fewer hook points to contend with through the weeds.

Owner suggests installing your single hook replacement hooks as illustrated with the front hook point facing forward and the back hook point facing to the rear.

Owner offers two different single hook replacement models, an X-Strong and an XXX-Strong. Both feature Super Needle Point hooks. The X-Strong will be available in sizes from 6 through 2/0 and the XXX-Strong in sizes from 1/0 - 9/0. Quantities per pack vary depending on sizes, but packages of the X-Strong will retail for an MSRP of $3.50 while the XXX-Strong will retail for an MSRP of $9.00.

Single hooks are popular in saltwater

Will they take hold in freshwater too?

Micro Hyper Barrel Swivel: Carolina Rig fans will love these new Micro Hyper Barrel Swivels from Owner. Made from stainless steel to achieve a premium strength to size ratio, these new swivels will be available in sizes ranging from 14 through 1 and strength ratings up to four hundred ten pounds (410#s - Size 1). Sizes 14 through 4 are sold in packs of 10 while sizes 3, 2 and 1 will be sold in packs of 9, 8, and 7 respectively. MSRP on all packs is $3.75.

Micro-sized barrel swivels are great for those who prefer stealthy presentations.

Thanks to Kevin Hawk for showing us what's new with Owner for 2015!

Conclusion: Never one to disappoint, Owner America Corp has some exciting new terminal tackle products in store for the coming year. Of particular interest to us are the Pivot Head and Single Hook Replacement Hooks. They both provide intriguing alternatives that we'd like to test out on the water.
