Hardy sheds some light on their latest fly rods and reels

Introduction:
The Hardy brand has been associated with quality fly fishing products for many more years than I've been alive. Several weeks ago we learned that Pure Fishing acquired both the Hardy and Greys labels. What does this mean for both brands? We don't have any clues quite yet, but let's dive into what's new from Hardy this year!

This series is adorned with a translucent olive-green blank color.

Shadow Fly Rods: As replacements for the discontinued Demon series, these new 4-piece fly rods utilize high modulus M40 blank construction along with a “middle-to-tip” action to deliver smooth casts. Saltwater models use full-wells handles with aluminum reel seats; freshwater rods tout reverse half-wells grips with burl wood inserts. Nine models will be offered from an 8-foot 4 weight up to a 10-foot 8 weight. Shadow rods will run from $359.00–$429.00 which also includes a sock and tube.

This is one mean looking fly reel.....

Ultralite SDS Fly Reel: Ultralite SDS (Sealed Drag System) reels boast robust carbon drag systems with all drag adjustments available within a single 360-degree turn. Each model is fully machined from 6061 polished and anodized aluminum bar stock and also features a quick release spool, easy right to left conversion, and a neoprene pouch. Appropriate for 8–14 weight lines, three models will be offered at a price of about $450.00 to $495.00.

Thanks to Hugh Hutson and tarpon guru Andy Mill for the tour!

Conclusion: We really liked what we saw at the Hardy booth. The new gear exhibited a high level of refinement and looked fantastic. You can expect both of these new items to be available late this year. You can also expect us to do our best in bringing you a full review on at least one of these offerings!
