Introduction:
Walking the aisles of both the ICAST and IFTD sides of the convention center revealed many new brands. CarbonPro is one of the newcomers to the scene, and their mix of exotic-looking ice rods and well-appointed fly rods made us stop for a closer look. Let's check out exactly what they offer.

CarbonPro offers several different reel seat configurations.

Steam Rover Fly Rods: The 5/6 weight Steam Rover fly rod is a moderate action 8-foot 4-inch model that comes in a 5-piece configuration. The blank features premium graphite construction and is adorned with SiC stripping guides and hard-chrome snake guides. The unique reel seat features a blue-green insert for a nice bit of eye candy. The rod includes a 24-inch travel tube and sock.

River Ridge rods boast some clean and classy looks.

River Ridge Fly Rods: This series of rods are comprised of 11 models in varying lengths ranging from a lightweight 8-foot 4 weight up to a 9-foot 10 weight for the heaviest model. All rods feature 4-piece construction and utilize actions ranging from slow to fast depending on respective line weights. The rods come equipped with SiC stripping guides, SSG snake guides, 5A high-quality cork grips, and several reel seat insert choices. Blanks can be had in a green or blue color scheme, and each model is accompanied by a protective rod tube and sock.

More great-looking reel seat offerings....

River Ridge Plus Fly Rods: Designed in 4-piece configurations ranging from an 8-foot 4 weight to a 9-foot 10 weight, the rods in this series feature actions from slow to fast. Each rod utilizes components from American Tackle, including reel seats, HTC stripper guides with Halide rings, FGG snakes, FRTTL tips, 5A quality cork, and protective travel tubes and socks. Both transparent blue and transparent green blank colors are available.

Solo ice rods come with either EVA grips.....

Owl Creek Fly Rods: Three-piece Owl Creek rods span from a 7-foot 6-inch 3/4 weight to a 9-foot 8 weight. Actions range from slow to moderate-fast. Each rod comes standard with SiC stripper guides, SSG snake guides, an HWT tip, 5A quality cork, and protective tube with sock.

...or exotic bamboo.

Solo Ice Rods: Solo ice rods feature solid fiberglass blanks with three handle styles available, including two EVA configurations as well as a beautiful bamboo root option. All rods feature SiC guides and a neon orange tip for easier bite detection. Powers vary from ultra light up to medium, and lengths span from a 24-inch model to a 28 inch rod. Each rod comes with a protective case that allows for storage with the spinning reel attached.

Thanks to Steven Kim of CarbonPro for the tour!

Conclusion: The folks at CarbonPro tell us that all rods will be available sometime later this year. While prices haven't been solidified quite yet, they told us that no rod will exceed the 200-dollar mark.  They are also offering some custom rod options which include some impressive thread and paint work.
