Introduction:
There is a practice among gear heads across all industries to customize and supertune their gear if not to be unique, then certainly cool and personal. In the world of bass fishing, this usually applies to an angler's fishing reel. There are a handful of third party vendors who offer custom parts for your Daiwa, Shimano, and Abu reels and in Japan, Daiwa and to a lesser extent, Shimano offer performance tuning parts for their reels as well.

Have the need to express your individualism?

But feel stifled by all the cookie cutter reels on the market?

Custom Parts? In tune with the younger generation, and certainly hip to the goings on inside the bass fishing industry, it was just a matter of time before 13 Fishing offered up their own unique take on the super tuning market.

13 Fishing is looking to change things up.

Those who are familiar with their reels are already aware of the interchangeability with parts between all the 13 Fishing Concept fishing reels. It's a model used by a handful of manufacturers to keep costs down and upgrades within the factory a bit more easy to deal with as opposed to manufacturers like Shimano and Daiwa who use different toolings for each reel to make each product more unique from the next.

Introducing 13 Fishing's Trick Shop - your opportunity to customize your Concept reel to match your favorite team, colors, day of the week, you name it.

The use of common tooling and parts between different lines of reels makes total sense for smaller manufacturers like 13 Fishing - it helps to control costs. But where some may view that as a weakness because product lines lack individuality, 13 Fishing uses it as a strength. It enables them to move forward and reveal the bigger plan - custom tuning parts that apply and are interchangeable across all their Concept reels.

From Rasta...

... to Patriot, the possibilities are endless.

Trick Shop: Set to launch before Christmas 2014, 13 Fishing is opening up their TrickShop - a seemingly endless supply of handles, colored spools, caps, knobs, and other accent pieces made to fit their reel platform. Customers can buy and order parts from their local 13 Fishing retailer and/or send their reels in to the manufacturer for super tuning.

While anodized parts are one thing... what about custom frame and sideplates?

Are you excited yet?

Think about it - now you and your buddy can have the same reel, but with totally different color schemes. Perfectly match your reel with your rod of choice, or if you're in a club or college team, custom color all your gear to match your team's colors! The inspiration and possibilities are endless.

Matt Baldwin proudly shares with us 13 Fishing's ace in the hole - the Trick Shop where the custom options for your Concept reel are endless.

Conclusion: The vibe 13 Fishing enables with their unique approach to marketing product is refreshing. Offering tuning parts for their reels is not a unique idea, but the energy they are expending to bring it all to light is. This is not a giant manufacturer of which fishing is just a small division. This is a manufacturer who is all about the angler and giving them tools and options to enhance their fishing experience. Final pricing, colors, specifications are all still being finalized, but the lines are already forming. Are you ready to express yourself through your fishing gear?
