Introduction: Phenix has always produced quality rods for fresh and saltwater that have a distinctive, custom look.  As their popularity continues to grow, their rod lines grow as well to meet demand and reach a broader customer base.  With their Recon series rods being unveiled at ICAST 2011, Phenix seeks to raise the bar by bringing out new rod lines to the ICAST 2012 show, including the exciting M1 series.

The new Phenix rods are an exciting addition.

M1 Series-  After much anticipation and a few rumors, the new M1 rod series is getting ready to hit stores.  These rods promise to deliver the latest advancements at a surprisingly modest price point.   Utilizing Nano tube technology and unidirectional carbon fiber in the construction process, sensitivity and strength are said to be unrivaled within the class.  Other features include SIC guides, EVA and composite cork grips, and custom reel seats designed by Phenix.  Rep Vince Borges noted that the rods on hand were pretty much what we can expect, with the exception that all the hook keepers will be changing to a clip style and will be moving up ahead of the foregrip.  All rods will be one piece.

Recon 2 Series-  The new Recon 2 rods take over the Recon series and promise even higher performance.  While specs like the 36 Ton blank, SIC guides, EVA grips, and Fuji reel seats remain, there are several additional features.  The blanks are now a smooth sanded finish, actions are even more true to power, and hoop strength has increased approximately 50%. The logo is even improved, now using a sticker style logo in favor of the past screen printed one which had a tendency to wear.   Hook keepers have gone to a clip style and are in front of the reel seats, and cork butt caps are now used instead of rubber.  The metal ring that resided on the carbon fiber reel seat hood will also likely be changed to a different material.  All rods are one piece.

Vince Borges proudly displays the new M1.

Phenix continues building aesthetically pleasing rods with advanced features at a reasonable price.  We here at TackleTour are especially excited about fishing the M1 rods in the near future.  We can expect to see the rods shipping to stores sometime in September.
