SIMMS is Locked and Loaded to Address the Bass Market with
Premium Garments (continued)

Windstopper
Softshell Jacket:
The Prodigy is designed to take on the harshest conditions bass anglers
are likely to encounter, but for those days when wind is the biggest challenge
Simms is introducing a new softshell jacket which makes use of Gore Windstopper
fabric with a 100% nylon face and 100% polyester micro check fleece lining.

For most occasions when
wind is the biggest challenge Simms is introducing a new Windstopper SoftShell
Jacket
This lightweight jacket weighs only 24oz. and is designed to keep anglers
protected from the wind without reducing mobility. The material is very flexible
and the jacket also packs down quite small.

A Raglan sleeve improves fit and range
of motion while stitched in pockets provide for more relaxed styling. An
adjustable neck collar helps protect anglers all the way up and an audio cord
system for iPod/iPhone use is also provided.

The Softshell is a good workhorse
jacket that is able to tackle a wide range of conditions. The Softshell is
available in a wide range of sizes and Gunmetal and Gunmetal/Fury Orange colors,
and will retail for $199.95.

Sunsleeves provide sun
protection when wearing short sleeves
Sun Protection:
While most anglers probably think of outerwear when they first hear the
name Simms, the company also has a wide range of garments designed specifically
for fishing in warm weather conditions. Two of the most exciting products are
the Sunsleeves which like the name implies are sleeves which are made out of
quick-dry breathable stretch fabric. These sleeves can pair with a short sleeve
shirt to provide UPF 50+ protection on your arms. There are a range of new
prints including the Artist Series which feature attractive fish patterns. The
standard Sunsleeves retail fro $29.95 a pair while the Artist Series costs 5
dollars more. Also new for this year is an updated Sunglove which features
reinforced paneling in high abrasion areas. A single loop construction for the
middle and ring fingers provides excellent mobility and access to line and a
separate cuff with pairing snap helps keep the gloves together when stored.
These gloves are available in some very cool new patterns including camo and
retail for $24.95-$29.95 depending on the style/print.

Sungloves in new
patterns provide sun protection for both fly and conventional anglers
Conclusion:
While there were a lot of new garments at the show the Simms offering
was probably the
most exciting for
me. These garments
are all
over-designed to
perform in extreme
conditions and
feature a very high
quality
construction. Simms
is the top choice
for many fly fishing
guides, and is known
for not just
performance but
durability over the
long term. That same
formula looks like
it is being
translated into the
company's new
conventional-
fishing oriented
garments. Simms is
taking the Bass
fishing market
seriously and this
should be an
exciting year for
the brand.
