Evergreen International's Chaotic EsFlat Glide Bait (continued)

Ease of Actuation: I tend to give the bait only a second or two before beginning my retrieve. As mentioned, the EsFlat begins swimming right away and is super easy to work. It has a pretty wide glide for a bait of its size moving from side to side in a width of about a foot to maybe a little more. I was really surprised at how wide this little bait slides.

Clean, precise joing detail

Sliding is about the right way to describe how this bait swims, or perhaps more accurate is sweeping. If you take your hand and extend it like you're about to shake someone else's, but instead, sweep it back and forth like you're dusting off your desktop, that's how the EsFlat swims. Instead of keeping a straight up and down body position like a lot of baits, the EsFlat sweeps chaotically from one side to the other flashing its side up and down creating a lot of commotion.

This finish, in parcitular, is very irridescent

The faster you retrieve the bait, the more chaotic and wild the EsFlat will swim in the water. But whatever speed you choose to retrieve this bait, it will stay on course and not foul out of its pattern. Given the way in which this bait swims, I thought for certain it'd spin out if retrieved too quickly, but even on my 8.5:1 Bantam MGL, I couldn't get it to do so. Having said that, I had most confidence with this bait on a slow to medium speed retrieve rather than burning it.

Stock hooks on my bait were close to 10 years old, so I replaced them before testing

Design/Ergonomics: The EsFlat is available in maybe 14 different colors. I say this because at the moment, there appears to be only one color available at TackleWarehouse, but I've seen at least 14 colors listed on the manufacturer's website. One thing I did not mention previously is the EsFlat does have an internal knocker which simply adds to the chaos that is this bait's action. This bait is the perfect size for anyone wanting to throw a not too big, big bait because you don't necessarily need big bait gear to fish it effectively.

Retail on the EsFlat is $29.99, so if you're seeing it listed for more, well, someone is attempting to take advantage

Price & Application: Normal retail price on the EsFlat is $29.99. Because it was only recently, officially introduced to the US bait market, there are inflated prices all over the Internet reflecting how difficult it used to be sourcing this bait. It is a somewhat unconventional glide bait effective when there's a need to change up what the fish have been seeing. Its unique swimming motion gives the fish something different to see.

Pluses and Minuses:

Plus

Minus
+ Super easy bait to throw all day - Availability of colors
+ Easy bait to work
+ Swims at all speeds

Evergreen International's EsFlat is a compact little glide bait you can throw almost anywhere that creates chaos wherever it swims

Conclusion: It's a rare treat to see a bait make its debut in the US market only to realize, "wait, I have one of those." I'm a little disappointed I only had the one, but it was enough to get a flavor for what the bait was all about. As I fished the EsFlat, fearful I might lose it before I had a chance to finish its tests, what I appreciated the most was how easy this bait is to cast and retrieve. Weighing in at two ounces, it's just a hair heavier than Strike King's 10XD. In glide bait terms, that's like tossing around a squarebill crank all day. In fact, that's exactly what this bait feels like - a compact little glide bait you can throw almost anywhere that creates chaos wherever it swims.
