In The Mood ... For Jigs (continued)

Conclusion: Six different brands of jigs, two or three different head styles, and we still haven't even scratched the surface of available product in this market segment. There are so many companies that specialize in skirted bait products, but when you throw in larger manufacturers like Gan Craft and Megabass the choice of which jig to tie to the end of your line can come down to just the smallest, seemingly most mundane attribute - or maybe not.

With all the different jig choices on the market today, one thing is certain. A quality built jig inspires confidence and that confidence can be the difference between catching fish on a jig or not.
Maybe price is enough of a deciding factor. The list price of our 2009 Jig Roundup contestants ranged from three dollars and forty cents ($3.40) to over six dollars ($6). In the past, we've reviewed jigs as inexpensive as one ninety nine ($1.99 - Bass Patrol's Football Jig). These one ninety nine jigs make the price of the six dollar and over jigs seem like that of a custom, hand painted swimbait!

Whatever the deciding factor may be in your jig purchasing decisions, one factor that is difficult to overlook is quality and that's something that's pretty easy to discern right out of the package. The six brands we reviewed today offer varying degrees of quality but they all start at above average. Everything else comes down to confidence in the product you're pitching. For now, it's time to close the books on this collection of jigs and look towards 2010.
