Outdoor Pro Shop's BassJam 2009 (pt. 2) (continued)

Gann’s Performance Tackle: TackleTour readers are probably already familiar with the Gann’s Performance Tackle Product and if so, are probably also familiar with the company’s website that has had the words “picture coming soon” in place of an image of their Hummer Jig. Mark Hiser was on hand at Bass Jam ’09 to give us a first hand look at this jig that is touted as a hybrid between a banana and arkie style jighead.

A rare look at the Gann's Performance Tackle Hummer Jig.

A hybrid between a banana jig and arkie head, the Hummer features that signature, flat bottom head...

As with all Gann’s Tackle product, the Hummer Jig features hand tied precision built on the foundation of a Gamakatsu hook. The skirt is 50-60 strand silicone and is built to fish right out of the package at $3.99 per jig.

... a super clean weedless guard insert ...

.. and of course, hand tied silicone skirts.

Berserk Baits: Things seemed just a little off at the next booth but we guess that’s to be expected with a company with a name like Berserk Baits. Featuring quality, hand tied skirted products and hand poured soft plastics, Berserk Baits was on hand to show us all is not necessarily as it may seem.

Berserk Baits and their version of a custom hand tied jig.

First off, this bait company has a mascot. Melvin the Bass is the brainchild of Efrain Rojas and is a bass with an attitude. Melvin was featured on the Berserk Baits signage as BassJam ’09 was his official coming out party.

Made with three different skirt materials, silicone, living rubber...

But more importantly the company’s bait products speak to quality. Steve was on hand to walk us through the company’s approach which essentially has roots in providing to the consumer the highest quality product they can produce with their own hands. And by hands, they mean John’s hands who has the cut, poked, and prodded finger tips to prove he’s been busy tying jigs with every spare moment of time.

... and the very rare, fine living rubber.

The Berserk Baits jigs feature a mix of fine round rubber, standard living rubber, and silicone, all carefully measured, proportioned and laid out, so each and every bait is symmetrical, right out of the package. All their jigs feature Mustad Ultra point hooks in black nickel and retail for between $3.49 - $3.69 depending upon the style of head.

The company offers shakey jigheads as well.

And of course their own creature bait.
