Introduction:
Canadian lure company Kamooki is passionate about creating innovative baits and this year introduced a follow on product to their patented SmartFish. These lures utilize the relationship between buoyant forces and gravity to create baits that deliver a very unique presentation to fish.

Meet the Kamooki SmartFish, an innovative fishing lure from Canada

SmartFish: Kamooki's design utilizes a weight under the chin of what normally would have been a floating bait to create a lure that balances perfectly on a single contact point. On this pivot point the SmartFish achieves mechanical equilibrium. Balance is key on this bait and company owner and head designer, Kamran Sheikh, cleverly utilizes zinc to create the perfect weighted keel.

Talk about perfect balance, the SmartFish pivots on top of a submerged foam ball

In the water the SmartFish presents like a baitfish feeding on the bottom and though it looks like a crankbait or blade bait the SmartFish can be fished a variety of ways including cranked, crawled, walked, or even vertically jigged. The SmartFish is available now in 3" sizes and a wide variety of common baitfish patterns, and retails for $12.99 dollars each.

Kamooki's newest bait is a great looking crawfish

SmartCraw: Following up the SmartFish this ICAST the company is introducing the realistic looking SmartCraw. The SmartCraw is a very similar shape and design as the SmartCraw but the pattern is reversed so what was the head of the SmartFish is now the tail on the SmartCraw. This gives the bait a very realistic profile and stance, and looks like a fleeing crawfish as it is retrieved.

The Smart Craw features the same precision engineered balance system

When retrieved the SmartCraw exhibits a side to side motion and a slight wobble and also emits a natural clicking sound. When the bait is vertically jigged it vibrates moving upwards, and flutters down slowly in a circular pattern when dropped. Once the SmartCraw hits the bottom it will sit perfectly on the pivot point, with the claws up in a defensive position.

The zinc keel on the crawfish cleverly positions the SmartCraw in a defensive position at rest

The SmartCraw is armed with a single black nickel VMC treble hook attached to the tip of the claws, and because it is held up in a constant vertical position this helps reduce snags. The SmartCraw is coming soon and will be available in 3" sizes, 1/2oz. weights, and in a variety of patterns to help anglers better match the hatch. The new lure will be available at the end of August from e-tailers.

Both the SmartFish and SmartCraw do something that other lures can't, they sit at a upward position no matter what the structure they are resting on and can be fished throughout the entire water column. Even when the baits are at rest they move tantalizingly on the pivot point. The baits look great in the water and provide an exciting new tool for anglers to present to heavily pressured fish.
