My tendency was to fish these swim jigs on fluorocarbon line for the decreased visibility under water and increased resistance to abrasion. Retrieve ratio I used was anything 6.6:1 and above. That was kind of secondary to me with these baits.
The skirts are held in place via this thick, rubber band
Speaking of these baits, performance out on the water is pretty much what you'd expect. I've yet to meet a jig that doesn't cast well. What's more important with a swim jig is how well they come through weeds.
Both the standard swim jig and No-Jack from Dirty Jigs come with a bullet shape head with a line tie that's at a shallow angle in relation to the hook shaft. These two factors are what make this jig ideal for swimming. The bullet head comes through vegetation better than say a football or arkie head that are both a little wide while the shallow angle line tie pulls the jig at an optimum angle to facilitate hookups while the bait is in motion.

Design & Ergonomics: Another nice feature of this bait is that large barb underneath the skirt along the hook shaft. I really liked how both Big Bite Bait's Suicide Shad and Jackall's Rhythm Wave complimented Dirty Jigs's Swim Jigs and that baitkeeper does a really nice job of keeping them pinned to the bait.
The bait keeper features a good sized barb to hold trailers
Dirty Jigs does an outstanding job matching the actual jig heads to the silicone skirts. They put each jighead through a three layer paint process and the jigs' skirts are nice and full so the bait has a big profile in the water. My only disappointment here was the discovery the skirts are held on with a thick rubber band and not tied on.
Fiber weedguards are standard
Price & Applications: Dirty Jigs's standard and No-Jack swim jigs retail for $4.49 and $4.99 respectively. The No-Jack Swim Jig has an upgraded, heavier duty hook than the standard made by Gamakatsu and is designed to be fished through thick grass and heavy cover. However, the standard swim jig's hook is no slouch either. It's a 5/0 3x strong Mustad, so it's just a matter of how much security you need personally
