Introduction: While the G.Loomis GCX was the company's rod launch at ICAST Shimano also unveiled a complete refresh to the Curado lineup of rods. The new sticks feature a clean layout with the combination of Hi-Power X blank technology, Ci4+ reel seats and FazLite guide inserts.

Shimano has been busy. In addition to rolling out new GCX rods on the G.Loomis side the company also introduced a refresh to their Curado rods

Curado Rods: The Shimano Curado Series reel family is growing so it is no surprise that the company is updating the Curado rods to provide anglers with a matching platform. The redesigned the Curado series of casting and spinning rods have been designed with more power and versatility for anglers of all types.

The new Curado rods now benefit from technology seen in higher-end Shimano rods including Hi-Power X which utilizes diagonally-wrapped carbon tape forming "X" shapes on the rod blank's outermost layer, which is designed to improve feel, casting distance, and overall strength of the blank.

Green graphics of course

Like other new Shimano and G.Loomis rods the Curado series of rods will also make use of CI4+ reel seats for increased sensitivity and reduced weight. The combination with the high density EVA grips looks clean and seamless.

This latest Curado rod series looks more JDM than previous versions, and has a very dark overall styling to match the more recent Curado reels. There is just a touch of green in the graphics and threading to tie it all together.

In terms of guides the Curado rods get Fuji tangle-free K guides with FazLite inserts which are rated for monofilament, fluorocarbon or PowerPro braided fishing lines.

In total there are 12 casting, 4 casting glass, and 6 spinning rods in the 22 rod lineup. All four of the glass models still feature a Hi-Power X blend for a more crisp feel, as well as increased power to move big baits and big fish.

The new Curado rods look like a good option for anglers looking for a all-Shimano all-Curado outfit and are a reasonable price too

The new Curado rods will be available late Fall to early Winter timeframe and retail from $159.99 to $179.99 depending on the model, and are available for pre-order now from Tackle Warehouse. These mainstream oriented rods are a great option for the Shimano fan looking to keep it all in the family when pairing there workhorse Curado reels.
