ICAST 2011 : e21's "Wild" new Rods

Introduction:
When the e21 sprung from the ground up at ICAST 2007 they hit the ground running with their Carrot Stix prototype. The frenzy that followed several months afterwards resembled that of a plague of locusts descending upon tackle shops to snatch up anything and everything orange. Their distinctly bright blanks were instantly recognizable out on the water and the e21 brand was solidified. Four years later, the orange flame has finally calmed to a warm glow, but e21 is still in the game this year, showing us some different hues.

e21 introduces a new lineup of rods and they are not orange...

The new "Wild Black" rods feature a new coating for increased durability

Wild Black: New this year for e21? A Wild strain of black carrots. e21 is makes use of a new coating system for increased durability and lighter overall weight. All graphics and labels are moved to the back of the rod taking the practice of proper weight placement to an extreme - the fewer labels and graphics at the front of the rod, the less weight there is. All Wild Black rods are built from a base of 30T graphite, feature Fuji Alconite Micro Guides, and will retail for $129.

The rods consist of 30 ton graphite and make use of Fuji Alconite micro guides

Michael McDevitt shows us what's new with e21.

Conclusion: Though the fervor that surrounded e21's original product line may have calmed to a warm glow, it's good to see the company is doing well and holding their own in the rod market. Concentrating on delivering the cost conscious angler a technically sound rod with proven components at price that won't break the bank is a proven strategy. While we here at TackleTour have always been fond of the way black and orange go together, the introduction of new coating and updated cosmetics help e21 to continue to standout from the crowd.
