Introduction:
Most professional bass anglers with rods and reels bearing their name are featured on products in the value driven product lines, so when we heard about the new Revo Ike Series casting and spinning reels by Abu Garcia, we naturally assumed they'd be based off the RevoX or S reels making them more accessible to the young anglers who idolize Ike. Imagine our surprise when we discovered these reels were instead priced over $200!

Look what we found in Abu Garcia's booth - purple!

Revo Ike Low Profile: This is not your typical, watered down, signature series low profile casting reel. Instead, Abu Garcia's Ike Series low profile casting reel appears to be based off the company's Revo4 STX series complete with IVCB-6L casting brakes, X2-Craftic alloy frame, 11 bearings, and more.

The 90mm carbon handle is standard.

This new, purple powerhouse has a finish reminiscent of the original Daiwa Alphas but is far more modern with its 90mm carbon handle and up to 24lbs of drag. Abu Garcia's Revo Ike, low profile reel will be offered in a 6.6:1 and 8.0:1 gear ratio (both left and right hand retrieve) and retail for $249.95.

There's a spinning reel too.

Revo Ike Spinning: Ike's signature series spinning reel is built with Abu's new IM-C6 Body Design offering a compact, lightweight housing for the reel's aluminum gears. The Ike Spinning reel will be offered in two sizes, a finesse targeted 20 (~2000 size) and a more general purpose 30 (~2500 size).

The carbon handle is reminiscent of Abu's higher end spinning reel.

It features a very compact body.

Suggested techniques for the 20 size include drop shot, whacky jig head, ultra-light swimbaits, hair jigs and spy baits while the 30 size is recommended for shaky heads, tubes, rubs, neko rigging and punch shotting. Retail price for the Ike Spinning Series reels is set for $249.95.

That purple anodized piece is a bait keeper.

Fishing Rods: Ike's rod series has been refined and now includes a total of 21 different models all made with blanks rolled from 36 Ton graphite, Fuji reel seats, stainless steel guides with Zirconium inserts, built with actions specified by Mike Iaconelli himself. Retail on the rods is $149.95 and they come with a 3 year warranty from Abu Garcia.

Conclusion: These new rods and reels from Abu Garcia bearing Mike Iaconelli's name have a very enthusiast tone to them while maintaining a certain degree of affordability. They're certainly not value driven product so it is relative, but they are also not at the level of the company's super high end Morrum reels either - a series that was previously under discussion to bear Ike's name.
