Introduction:
Aftco has been outfitting anglers for sixty years, but before 2018, their concentration had primarily been with saltwater anglers. Based out of Santa Ana, California, outfitting saltwater anglers was a natural focus for the company. Aftco now takes all the knowledge and experience from the past sixty years and has decided to apply that to the freshwater angler. Their first garment designed specifically with the freshwater angler in mind is their new Hydronaut Heavy-Duty Waterproof rainsuit.

Aftco's Hydronaut rainsuit won Best of Category Technical Apparel at ICAST 2018.

It is a 2 layer garment.

Hydronaut Rainsuit: What better way to make a debut than to win ICAST 2018 Best of Category Technical Apparel. Aftco did just that with their new Hydronaut Rainsuit that features 2 layer construction with a nylon shell and polyester mesh lining. The hood is vented in back to reduce neck strain when traveling at high speeds and the suit is built with a host of standard features like a double articulated storm flap, covered chest pockets, handwarmer pockets, retractable d-rings, etc..

Featuring a rear vented hoodie...

... double cinch cuffs ...

The feature that caught our attention right away was their Cyclops integrated camera mount pocket featured on the left chest of the jacket and bib so you can mount your favorite GoPro or similar device and film/photograph your fish catching adventure. Retail for the Jacket is set for $249 and the bib at $229. Aftco projects availability for October 2st, 2018 - just in time for the rainy season.

... and a
mounting pocket for today's personal action cams.

The new Hexatron mid-layer hoodie also won an award.

Hexatron Performance Hoodie: Aftco also debuted their new mid-layer solution, the Hexatron Performance Hoodie made from their proprietary HexTech thermal dobby fabric. This new garment is 94% polyester and 6% spandex offering good freedom of movement. Oh and by the way, Aftco took Best of Category Lifestyle Apparel for the Hexatron Hoodie too. Retail price is set for $79 and it will be available in two colors in October 2018.

Bill Shedd, president and CEO of Aftco, is not just hard at work finding ways to better outfit today's bass anglers, but he and his company are deeply committed to funding, pioneering, and furthering conservation efforts to ensure bass angling, as a sport and past time, continues to prosper for years to come.

Conclusion: Even though apparel needs between saltwater and freshwater anglers do not vary that much, it's surprising that a company with sixty years of experience outfitting anglers is just now making their foray into the freshwater market. We actually wear their sun shirts and shorts quite often and based on what we've seen and worn, Aftco is prepared to make a pretty big dent in the bass angling apparel market. Their two Best of Category awards at ICAST 2018 only reinforce our prediction.
