An
Affordable Cranking Stick for Spinning Rod Fans - The Abu Garcia Veritas
(continued)

I know. Sometimes I don't know what to do with myself either. Back to the VTSSW70-5
though, this stick has a very medium power feel to it all the way up to the
point when you have a fish at the end of the line. As the pressure at the end of
the line increases, this stick has a lot of forgiveness, which is a good thing
because I was fishing it with very light, 6lb test line.

Checking out the taper
It's because this rod bends more through its length than a traditional rod, that gives you that impression it's soft, but really that pressure it puts on your catch eventually tires it out. You just have to be a little more patient than usual.

Design & Ergonomics: All of our lab measures for this stick came out to be pretty much on par with the competition. One really nice benefit of this stick, however, is its balance. It is not very tip heavy, which for a cranking stick doesn't matter as much. Still it's nice, just the same, to be using a stick you don't have to fight with all day while casting and retrieving small paddletails or other moving baits.

Price & Applications: The wonderful thing about Abu Garcia's Veritas lineup and why they keep showing up in our review pages is these sticks only cost $99.99.
Once the threshold for enthusiast level gear, the one hundred dollar price point is now simply the indicator an angler is ready to get just a bit more serious about their tackle choices while not getting out of hand in the budget department.

If you're looking for a moving bait stick to compliment your
spinning arsenal, the VTSSW70-5 belongs on you radar
Conclusion: I know it's probably difficult for the hard core bass angler to comprehend, but there's a good segment of the angling public that still prefers spinning gear to casting. For those in that camp, dedicated cranking sticks are probably difficult to come by. Abu Garcia recognizing this deficiency, appropriately addresses it with the VTSSW70-5 and even makes a low speed reel to match up with it. Even better, the entire combo will only set you back about $260 before sales tax. That's about average what I spend on a rod or a reel alone, not the entire combo. If you're looking for a moving bait stick to compliment your spinning arsenal, the VTSSW70-5
gets the job done at an aggressive price point.
