Okuma's New Flagship Spinning Reel:
Internally the X-Series a CNC precision-cut, anodized AL70 aluminum drive gear
and AL70 hard anodized aluminum spool shaft which Okuma engineers designed to
provide an excellent balance of reduce weight and strong performance.
This gear is anodized to resist corrosion from inshore
fishing conditions to provide smooth operation season after season. The
X-Series also features 10BB + 1RB stainless steel bearings to deliver smooth and
light turns of the handle.

The X-Series also features
CFR (Cyclonic Flow Rotor) Technology to ensure optimal airflow throughout the
rotor system, increasing drying time, and minimizing corrosion throughout the
reel. The X-Series features a reversible screw-in machined aluminum handle
design, allowing anglers to customize their reel setup for max control. With a
machine-cut brass pinion gear, X-Series offers durability and seamless gear
engagement, ensuring smooth and reliable performance. The Quick-Set anti-reverse
roller bearing provides instant hooksets and eliminates back play, giving
anglers the edge in landing their prized catch. It also boasts a one-piece
seamless bail wire design for increased strength.

The X-Series features an aluminum
frame and spool paired with a
C40X long-strand carbon fiber
sideplate and rotor
The X-Series Spinning Reels also feature a multi-disc Carbonite
drag system that is designed to deliver smooth, powerful performance, that is
more reliable than traditional felt systems. This provides the precise control
for targeting both fresh and inshore species with a max drag rating up to 24
pounds.
"The
X-Series represents years of innovation poured into perfecting every last
detail. As a seasoned angler myself, I can confidently say that this spinning
reel is not just one of our annual introductions - it's an award-worthy
masterpiece that surpasses all expectations. From its super lightweight
one-ounce spool design to its water-preventing capabilities, the X-Series will
undoubtedly make major waves in the industry.” said John Bretza, Director of
Product Development at Okuma

The X-Series will be available in
three size, 2500, 3000, and 4000 (2500 shown in picture)
The X-Series should excel in
freshwater applications but because it is designed for inshore as well the
company went to extra lengths to improve durability with an advanced Hydro Block
water intrusion system. The reel is equipped with a rubber gasket shielding the
Carbonite drag stack and rubber seals installed above and below the rotor, and
is engineered to combat water intrusion from all angles, including the top of
the spool. Additionally, a rubber O-ring on the handle serves as an extra layer
of defense against water intrusion. There are more provisions to shield out the
elements in the X-Series than any Okuma spinning reel that has come before it.

The reel is designed for both
fresh and inshore applications and even the top of the spool and handle feature
rubber o-rings to prevent water intrusion
Our Quick Take:
Okuma's strongest reel offerings have long been their saltwater reels and
spinning reels. The X-Series blends features and adds new technology into a
robust reel that is designed to deliver the precision and solid feel of a
traditional aluminum bodied reel, but with the added refinement and reliability
of the company's higher-end saltwater reels. The reels will be available in
three sizes including a 2500, 3000, and 4000 and
all featuring a 6.2:1 gear ratio, offering versatility for anglers targeting
everything from trout and bass to redfish and snapper.

A look at the larger 4000 size
which comes with a T-handle knob for more grip when battling larger fish like
snook and snapper
As you might expect with
Okuma a priority is not only engineering a better reel, but continuing to make
them affordable for anglers. Though the X-Series ups the performance and
refinement level for the brand, and is positioned as a flagship offering, it is
still extremely aggressively priced from only $219.99 to $229.99, and comes
backed with a 1-year limited warranty. When was the last time you saw a flagship
spinning reel at that price? While the rest of the industry seems to be raising
prices for their current offerings, due to the cost of material and labor, Okuma
launches a higher-end reel and keeps the price low, making for a very compelling
option. Best of all the reels have already started shipping.
