Challenger Insulated Jacket and Bib: The Challenger series of foul weather protection has become the workhorse line for Simms, offering excellent water and wind protection at a much lower price than the company's flagship ProDry line.

As usual Simms packs in the features and things like hand warmer pockets, mesh pockets, reinforced knee pads, and a built in lens cleaner are all additions that make this a truly technical garment. The Challenger Insulated Bib is available in Anvil color in sizes S-4XL and will retail for $299.95. Stretch Woven Overall: There a lot of times I wear my bibs not only for protection from the elements but also to keep my other garments clean or just for a layer of splash or fish slime protection. Simms wanted to create a more comfortable option and is introducing the Stretch Woven Overall which is made out of 50% nylon, 43% polyester, and 7% spandex for 4 way stretch making this a great option for not just anglers on the water but shore anglers looking for excellent mobility. These durable reinforced suspenders are DWR water resistant and have five pockets to store plenty of gear. This new garment comes in easy to match "Steel" color in sizes S-3XL and will retail for $249 dollars. 

Katafront Hoody: Simms makes some really good hoodies, many of which are not only technical but look just as good on a run to the grocery store as they do all day on the water.

The Katafront Hoody is a technical fishing hoody with water resistant cuffs and exudes that river to saloon style.

The Katafront Hoody is constructed out of water-shedding fabrics including 92% polyester and 8% spandex for that extra bit of flexibility for unrestricted casts. Over the last two seasons Simms has also made a big push into women's garments and offers versions of the Katafront with specific colors and cuts designed specifically for women.

Challenger Hoody: Anglers looking for a more traditional pullover hoody will want to check out the new Challenger Hoody which is 100% polyester and has a giant kangaroo pocket complete with an internal cell phone pocket. This garment is great for a wide range of conditions and also offers UPF50 sun protection for those long days on the water. Warming Hut Gloves: They look a bit like boxing gloves but these highly functional gloves are designed to fight cold. Made with PrimaLoft insulation and wind and water resistant Pertex fabric these gloves will trap heat and warm up your hands quickly. SolarFlex Cool Hoody: While I used to wear Simms gear just for foul weather I now find myself wearing their lighter sun protection garments more than anything else. Anglers spend a lot of time under the sun and a lightweight and breathable hoody can make the difference between a great day on the water or one that ends with nasty sun rash.

When meeting with John at Simms I asked if the company retires older skus as it continues to introduce so many new ones year on year. John answered that while some styles and pieces do get updated the vast majority of garments stick around. The bottom line is the Simms portfolio continues to get bigger and better every year.
