Booyah's newest buzzbait, the
Bi-You Buzz
Impressions: Booyah
has come on strong into a market where it is often difficult to carve out any
existence among the vast array of lure brands. The company does so with a
amalgamation of an aggressive marketing campaign (a catchy one at that) and
products that put a unique spin on traditional proven style lures. Whether it is
a jig or wire bait Booyah manages to add features that make traditional baits
seem a whole lot more exciting.
The Bi-You Buzz features a unique
wire design...
Before we looked at the
Booyah Bi-You Buzz we glance back at the Counter Strike Buzz, Booyah’s previous
buzzbait offering. The Counter Strike makes use of a two stage counter rotating
blades which produced a unique sound and a reasonable amount of splatter on the
surface. While not terribly novel the Counter Strike proved to be a quality
buzzbait still worthy of consideration.
...which holds two counter
rotating blades
The Bi-You Buzz reverts back
to traditional style blades but doubles up with two of them set in counter
rotation. The head of the buzzbait is a large triangle and is detailed with hand
painted scales and eyes. The lure is skirted with 55 strand Bio-Flex Silicon and
under the skirt we found something special, a flexible hook! Booyah connects
their XCalibur Tx3 hook to a steel braided cable, they have patented desugn and
call it the “leverage” hook system.
I tested the Booyah Bi-You Buzz
with a variety of rods including the Kistler Magnesium 6'6'
Overall the Bi-You Buzz
appeared to be a quality feature loaded buzzbait, but I was keen to see whether
the bait was a true performer or more show than go. There are a number of colors
to choose from, and Booyah doesn’t just offer different skirts they offer
completely different blade finishes beyond just sliver and gold, the gunmetal
nickel blades on the darker colors look excellent and conjure up images of after
sunset surface strike applications.
