Since the last ICAST show, Damiki has been hard at work developing a plethora of new products.  Covering techniques for power and finesse fishing, these new additions appear to deliver excellent quality and detail.  Professional angler Bryan Thrift led us through the various features of each item and what makes them special.

The Kaiser Jig head is perfect for finesse applications around snaggy bottom.

Kaiser jig head:  The Kaiser jig head has undergone a redesign and now features a single fiber weedguard for protection while fishing around snags.  In addition, it features a short shank wide gap hook, and flat eyelet.  Available in 1/16 and 1/8oz size and in 4 colors.  Retail will be $4.25 for a pack of 3.

The simplistic Pandla jig head will work well with several styles of plastics, including small swimbait bodies either solo or on an umbrella rig.

Pandla jig head:  The new Pandla jig head is only available in an unpainted finish.  It is touted as being excellent for small swimbaits and is a smart choice for use on an umbrella rig.  Sizes include 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4oz.   Hook sizes will be 4/0 and 5/0.  Expect to pay $4.99 for a pack of 5.

The hefty Axe blade makes a great little bait for probing the depths.

Axe Blade:  Weighing 3/4oz, the Axe Blade will be a great bait if you want to show those deep fish something a bit different.  It features a trailer hook that is attached to the tail base with a collar so it will not foul the blade or other treble.  It will cost $11.99 and be available in 6 colors.

The Abyss 90 is said to be a great choice for cold water and lethargic fish.

Abyss 90:  The suspending Abyss 90 jerkbait features a long bill that helps it dive down to a maximum depth of 8 feet.   It also features a tight wobbling action to help it look extremely realistic on the retrieve.   It weighs 3/7oz and comes in a 3.5” size with 6 different colors available.  Price will be $11.99.

The Hummingbird 70 is a jerkbait for the finesse angler.

Hummingbird 70:  This bait is marketed as a “finesse jerkbait” with a length of just 2.5” and a weight of 2/7oz.   It will suspend on the pause, but can also be straight reeled to be fished as a small minnow crankbait.   6 colors will be available and it will dive to a maximum between 5-6 feet..  Retail will run $11.99.

The mixture of small and large rubber gives the jig a textured appearance.

Mamba II jig:  The Mamba II jig utilizes a streamlined head to more easily slip through craggy and snaggy bottom.  The rubber skirt material is a mixture of both fine round rubber and large, wide, flat rubber.  The jig will come in 3/8 and 1/2 size with 6 color combinations.  Price will be $4.99.

A new flip bait with lots of lifelike action.

Knock Out:  The Knock Out is a flipping, pitching, and punching bait with a smooth belly to slide through cover, and a ribbed back to push water and cause vibration.  The claws feature air chambers similar to the Air Craw to help them retain buoyancy and increase their action.  Claws and wing flaps are detachable so an angler can customize the bait to their liking.  These baits weigh 3/7oz and are 4.5” long.  There will be 6 colors to select from with a retail of $5.99 for an 8 pack.

The Air Mega Miki II is a big bait for big Bass.

Air Mega Miki II:  The big 11” Air Mega Miki II weighs 1/2oz and features an air pocket in the rear section of the worm.  This air pocket allows the rear to float up slightly giving the entire bait an extremely lifelike mannerism underwater.  6 colors will be offered at a price of $6.99 for a 6 pack.

The new Anchovy Shad swimbait is great fished alone or on an umbrella rig.

Anchovy Shad:  The new Anchovy Shad swimbait is 4” long and weighs 1/3oz.  It is great fished on an umbrella rig or rigged on a Pandla jig head, as shown above.  6 colors will be offered at $6.99 for an 8 pack.

With offerings like these, it's no wonder Damiki gains popularity each year.  Their quality baits and modest pricing is an attractive combination that has caused anglers to take notice.  We are told to expect these products to be available sometime in September.
