St. Croix has spent a lot of time over the last few years refining their bass series of rods. This year, their attention was spent in other markets like Musky, Ice, River, Trout, Inshore, and Fly. Of those new offerings, three really stood out to us. One will be explored in a separate article, but in this article, we're going to take a look at the brand new LegendXtreme Inshore and Trout Series Rods from St. Croix.

This year, St. Croix's attention was spent in markets other than bass fishing like Musky, Ice, River, Trout, Inshore, and Fly.

LegendXtreme Inshore: Built on their wildly popular SCV graphite blanks, the new LegendXtreme Inshore rods from St. Croix are built to push the envelope in both performance and design. Each rod in the series features Kigan Master Hand Zero Tangle free guides with Zirconia inserta and titanium frames.

The new LegendXtreme Inshore Rods are eye catching to say the least!

These rods feature St. Croix's proprietary blank technologies including IPC, TET, FRC, and ART. Too many acronyms? Let's just say the rods are built with St. Croix's highest grade graphite and are designed to be both sensitive and durable.

They feature St. Croix's Xtreme-Skin handles first introduced last year.

The feature that will stand out to most anglers upon initial inspection will be the Xtreme-Skin handles made to repel water, dirt and fish slime and built to be comfortable no matter the conditions. The grip material together with the blank are finished in a very distinct white giving the rods a very clean and eye catching finish. The only question to be asked is how well the finish in this series of rods will hold up over the long haul. Retail price on the LegendXtreme Inshore Rods will range from $380 - $390.

The new Trout Series really caught our attention.

Trout Series: TackleTour is considered primarily a bass fishing tackle site, but that's only because most of the tackle news these days surrounds bass fishing gear. Trout fishing holds a special place in each editor's heart because of the simply stunning scenery trout destinations afford us. We were immediately drawn to St. Croix's new Trout Series at ICAST.

We love the treatment of the blank in between the reel seat components.

Built on blanks with a blend of both SCII and SCVI graphites, the new Trout Series rods from St. Croix are built to be light, strong, and sensitive. They will be available in lengths ranging from five feet four inches (5'-4") all the way up to seven feet (7') and all but the shortest model will be 2 piece rods.

Each stick in the Trout Series features Pac Bay Minima guides and reel seats.

Each rod in the series is built with Pac Bay Minima guides and reel seats and features a very unique and attractive pepper sand finish on the inside of the reel seat. Of all the USDM rod manufacturers, St. Croix always finds a way to offer something new, unique and very intriguing. The St. Croix Trout Series rods are set to retail for between $110 - $130.

Thanks to David Schluter for taking us through the new offerings from St. Croix!

Conclusion: Manufacturers that offer more than just the standard array of bass rods are always intriguing. There are, afterall, more fish in the lakes and seas than black bass and we enjoy acquiring the tackle to catch them all! We always enjoy checking out what's new and exciting with St. Croix because they never disappoint us with their unique take and innovative technologies. The new LegendXtreme Inshore and Trout Series Rods are very exciting and new and we cannot wait to take them out for a spin and a cast and hopefully tighten some lines in the process.
