ICAST 2013 Coverage

Advantage Bait Company Makes Spinnerbaits More Versatile And User-Friendly!

Date: 7/28/13
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Admission: Buyers & Press Only
Manufacturer: Advantage Bait Company
Reviewer: Wolbugger

Introduction:
Advantage Bait Company first made a showing in 2011 with a lineup of premium spinnerbaits that touted some great features. We previously reviewed these baits in December of 2011, but at ICAST this year CEO Jason Schwartz unveiled his latest offering, the brand new Quick Change series. Along with a series of swim jigs unveiled earlier in the year, these baits look to deliver a high level of performance and quality.

Advantage Bait Company introduces a new spinnerbait with a quick change blade system

Quick Change Series: The blades still feature the Extreme Flash Technology (EFT) that the original spinnerbaits were famous for, but now they come equipped with the new quick change blade system. Riding on a top quality Worth swivel, the added clasp is easily opened for rapid rear blade changes without using tools. While the back of a creek arm might be dirty, the main lake may only have a slight stain, and these baits allow you to adjust to varying water conditions instantly.

This blade has a realistic gill design on the head

The bodies are constructed of Mustang wire, with a stainless steel spring spacer that keeps both blades separated. Extremely realistic, the Shad-shaped heads are hand painted with double gill plates and 3D eyes for added realism. Skirts are made up of a 100% silicone, 90-strand “hubbed” skirt and built in “necktie” trailer. This one-piece design of the skirt and trailer allows for simple skirt/trailer changes. A new skirt pattern called “Ultimate Shiner” has also been added to the series this year. All Quick Change baits utilize a Mustad Ultra Point black nickel hook to round out the package.

The company's signature blade design is also employed on the buzzbait

All Quick Change spinnerbaits come in a clear tube for ease of storage. You can get your hands on these right now for a price of $14.38 for 1/4-1/2 ounce sizes, and $14.87 for the 3/4 ounce size. They are available in 7 colors.

The company also offers a complete range of swim jigs

Swim Jigs: While not necessarily new at the show, Advantage also had their full line of swim jigs on display, all of which were released before ICAST. Using the same hook, skirt/trailer, and head design as the spinnerbaits, they also add a built-in weed guard for snag protection. The swim jig series is available in 1/4 ounce and 3/8 ounce sizes, with 6 color patterns to choose from at an MSRP of $4.80. Conclusion: For a relatively new company, Advantage seems to have a firm hold on what it takes to produce high quality baits. We liked their spinnerbaits during our tests, and the swim jig looks like it will be equally as promising. As the brand continues to grow, we are told to expect a punching jig to be released in October.
