The slogan at 13 Fishing is “make your own luck”, but they certainly haven't needed any luck since their showing at ICAST 2012 in Orlando. The brand offers some very refined products at surprising prices, and our initial review of the Omen OBC73M proved to be very positive. These rods weren't just a hit with us however, as the brand has experienced huge growth in just a short time span. With several new offerings and even an award at the show this year, it appears their hot streak is continuing.

13 Fishing is one of the fastest growing tackle brands in the industry and with good reason, their offerings blend quality and value together and exhibit plenty of "cool factor"

Envy Crankbait Rods: There has been some talk of these rods on our forums for a few months now, and now they are finally on the way. There will be 3 cranking models offered in the Envy series including a 7'1” medium ($170), 7'4” medium-heavy ($170), and 7'11” heavy duty “Crankenstein” model ($180). All rods feature fiberglass/40-ton toray composite construction, moderate actions, Evolve components, and split grips. The guys at 13 Fishing tell us to expect the Crankenstein model to hit select stores around September 1st, with the rest of the fleet shipping out around November 1st.

Blending fiberglass and 40 ton toray composite construction the Crankinstein is designed to keep cranks pinned

13 Fishing rods are all instantly recognizable with their carbon weave pattern

Omen And Envy Green: Made specifically to handle inshore applications, the new Green series of rods feature fast or extra-fast tapers. These rods will be available in longer lengths and varying powers to suit everything from sea trout to tarpon. Envy Green rods come in 10 spinning and 7 casting models, with lengths from 6'8” to 8'0”. They also feature 40-ton toray blanks, custom grips, and REC components at a retail price between $260-$290. Omen Green rods are offered in 12 spinning and 7 casting models, with lengths from 6'8” to 8'0”. These feature 30-ton construction, custom integrated handle designs, and Evolve titanium components for a retail price between $110-$170. Be on the lookout for these rods around early September.

Omen And Envy A Series: The A Series rods are made for specialized spinning and casting applications outside of the normal series' of Omen and Envy rods. Species like trout, barramundi, and snook in the mangroves are perfect candidates. In the Envy A Series there will be 4 models offered ranging in power from a 6'10” light to a 6'0” medium-heavy.  These rods feature 40-ton toray construction, custom handle designs, REC black-pearl guides, and Evolve components. Omen A Series rods will arrive with 7 models ranging in power from light to medium heavy, and all will feature 30-ton toray construction, custom handles, and titanium-framed Evolve guides with Zirconia inserts. These rods will initially be offered in limited quantities beginning in November, with pricing yet to be announced.

13 Fishing is vertically integrated and one of the reasons why their rods are so unique is they own their own components company, Evolve.

Whiteout Combo: This diminutive ice fishing combo took home some big honors winning the ICAST award for “Best Of Show” in the rod and reel combo category. The 23.5” rod features a solid toray carbon blank, and Evolve guides and reel seat to give it performance much like a scaled down version of a full-sized 13 rod.

13 Fishing may be best known for their rods but they are so much more than just a rod company and they also have their own line of reels

The reel touts 6 ball bearings, instant anti reverse, “fat” bail design, composite body, aluminum handle/spool, and an EVA grip. This combo will set you back $59.99 and you can get your hands on one around September 1st.

13 Fishing takes ice fishing to the next level
