IRVINE, CA. Once again in 2007, the Shimano Fishing Tour crew will hit the
road with stops scheduled at leading tackle dealers up and down the East Coast,
throughout Florida, and in Alabama, Minnesota and Missouri. From its start in
Virginia to the last event outside of St. Louis, the Shimano Fishing Tour
caravan will traverse more than 10,000 miles talking tackle and offering a
variety of interactive events for anglers, along with providing an opportunity
to win a Ranger bay boat and motor package, Costa Del Mar sunglasses and fishing
line from Gamma Technologies.
At
each Tour stop, Shimano pro-staffers will showcase new tackle including the
award-winning Calais DC digital cast control baitcasting reel, and new Crucial
and Talavera rods. One lucky angler at each stop will be chosen to participate
in the $10,000 “Cast for Cash” Challenge, plus everyone stopping by the Tour
display can experience what it’s like to battle big-game fish in the Fighting
Chair Face Off (offered at select locations), and can also win prizes on the
Tour scavenger hunt.
“The
Shimano Fishing Tour gives anglers an opportunity to try out all the Shimano’s
reels, including the Calais DC, Chronarch, Calcutta DC and TE, and our Curado
series,” said Tour coordinator Takuya Yao. “And for some added excitement, we’re
putting up a $10,000 cash prize with the ‘Cast for Cash’ Challenge that will
take place at each Tour stop, plus we’ll also have the Tour sweepstakes going on
with the Ranger bay boat and motor package grand prize.”

In
addition to Shimano rods, reels and Gear, each Tour stop will have on display
boats from Ranger, sunglasses from Costa Del Mar, and the expanding fishing line
and leader material offering from Gamma. Many of the tackle shops will also be
offering special deals and activities while the Tour is in their town.
Along
with talking with local pro-staffers about area fishing opportunities and having
a hands-on opportunity with Shimano rods, reels and gear, “the Tour crew will
also be touting and will have information available on Anglers’ Legacy, a
national mission of the ‘Take Me Fishing’ program,” said Yao. “We’re asking
anglers to join Shimano and the fishing industry to step forward and help us
grow fishing and boating participation. And who better to do that than those who
are already avid anglers.”
